SWZ95 Siege of Coruscant

The Separatists have struck a crippling blow the Galactic Republic by abducting Chancellor Palpatine! In today’s transmission, we’ll talk about a few of the new Separatist ships available to players who are eager to thwart any attempt to save the Chancellor.

Separatist lists that have been successful recently tend to focus on their higher-cost ships. Jango Fett, Sun Fac, General Grievous, and Cad Bane have all been present in high-performing lists this summer. This newest version of Count Dooku will fit right in as a high-impact ship in similar lists. His pilot ability is the same as his Crew upgrade, and he has multiple effects to help him regenerate Force charges and keep the option to use that powerful ability more often. You will usually want to use this ability to change blank results to critical results during your attacks, but don’t overlook the option of securing a result to trigger Malice while you are attacking an unshielded ship. When Count Dooku is badly injured, he can cloak, retreat to safety, and still use his ability to assist other ships.

All the droids in this expansion are equipped with Contingency Protocol. This upgrade encourages you to use these ships together, as it only works with other ships that have Contingency Protocol. These ships fit well into the Separatist swarm-style play. Another consistency across the droid ships in this expansion is that Grappling and Landing Struts have been replaced with Strut-Lock Override. This new upgrade lets you move through any obstacle, not just asteroids or debris clouds, without suffering their effects. It also works on electro-chaff clouds!

When you think of a classic Separatist swarm, Vulture-class Droid Fighters usually fill out most of the slots in the squad. The Siege of Coruscant Vultures are all inexpensive swarm ships that will be used to increase your ship count and supply actions and calculate tokens to other ships. DFS-081 upgraded its ability: it now only works on itself, but it cancels critical results entirely instead of changing them to hits. The other two ships, Haor Chall Prototypes and DFS-311, keep their original pilot abilities. DFS-311 has been in many lists before, with an ability that helps keep your other ships alive. Since the customizable versions of these pilots can bring the same loadout or better, you may choose to bring these ships instead because you want to have more Contingency Protocol triggers available to you for a low cost.

These exciting new ships offer exciting new options with which to crush the Galactic Republic, but there are even more Separatist reinforcements on the way. In our next transmission, we’ll take a look at the remaining Separatist ships included in the Siege of Coruscant Scenario Expansion!
