Scene to Stats: WLO-5 Speeder Tank

In a galaxy no stranger to conflict, it pays to have access to the biggest gun. Whether in the lawless corners of the Outer Rim, or even, some may argue, in the galactic senate: might makes right. And when such might is needed, rebel bands, pirate crews, and frontier justice look no further than the WLO-5 Speeder Tank. This sturdy workhorse repulsorcraft is brimming with heavy laser armaments and boasts massive engines that spur it to speeds incongruent with its hulking scale. Its spacious hull can ferry infantry to the front or to the flank, provided those troops don’t expect the safety of straps or seatbelts. Climb board, if you dare, for today’s Scene to Stats, where we explore the latest repulsor to join the armories of STAR WARS: Legion, the WLO-5 Speeder Tank!

The WLO-5 Speeder Tank is a brand new Repulsor Vehicle, available by way of its Mercenary keyword to all four Factions, as well as featuring in the Shadow Collective and more Battle Forces to come! Its prodigious Wounds Threshold of 10, combined with the Armor 5 keyword, ensure the speeder tank is all but impervious to common blaster fire. Of note, while it sports a printed Speed of 1, its impressive base size ensures it crosses open ground far more rapidly than the average Trooper, making it an appealing and versatile Transport. The Heavy Laser Cannon can be brought to bear versus enemy vehicle and Trooper alike, its Impact 2 keyword leveling the playing field by punching through Armor X. Once the gap is closed, the Anti-Personnel Lasers can be added using Arsenal 2 to form a massive Attack Pool and, likely, cap off a successful raiding party!

The WLO-5 Speeder Tank expansion includes a number of unique Upgrade Cards to customize this multipurpose battle tank to the needs of your army, warband, or crew. The Weequay Crew card effect grants the speeder tank a free Aim or Dodge token if a friendly Raiders-affiliated unit is nearby, allowing it to synergize alongside Weequay Pirates, Swoop Bike Riders, or even another WLO-5 Speeder Tank. The Pyke Syndicate Crew and Black Sun Crew options grant a similar effect but change the speeder tank’s Affiliation to Pyke Syndicate or Black Sun, respectively, making the repulsor a compelling Transport option for these hired guns in your Faction! Of note, the WLO-5 Speeder Tank includes bespoke miniatures to represent all three of these Crew Upgrade Cards, ensuring you always have the right crew for the job!

The Pilot upgrade icon affords the WLO-5 Speeder Tank even more personalization to fit the needs of your motley band of misfits. The Gang Boss is a unique Command Vehicle, able to boost the Courage value of your nearby Weequay Pirates, who are not typically known for their discipline under fire. More flexible but perhaps less reliable is the Pirate Captain, who can grant Dodge tokens or remove Suppression from your Raiders, keeping these unruly types in-line. Of particular note, the WLO-5 Speeder Tank is also eligible to equip some classic Pilot upgrades previously restricted to the A-A5 Speeder Truck; it is a fitting dais for a Raiding Party Leader and is brimming with enough weaponry to satisfy all but the most Frenzied Gunner!
