In today’s transmission, we’ll be slumming it with some of the scoundrels as we’re showing off how the Swoop Bike Riders zoom on the tabletop in Star Wars™: Legion.

The galaxy is full of rogues and mercenaries willing to perform dangerous jobs for the highest bidder. Few embody that lifestyle better than the numerous Swoop Bike gangs of the Outer Rim. Described as little more than an engine with a seat, the Swoop Bike is a blunt, straightforward machine that requires more skill to ride than a speeder bike.

Swoop Bike Riders are a fast and disruptive Mercenary Support unit that excels at harassing enemy flanks and exploiting openings. Speeder 1 keeps them constantly on the move, allowing them to race over height 1 terrain while maintaining the momentum expected from these dangerous outlaws. Rather than standing toe to toe with enemy forces, Swoop Bike Riders thrive by forcing opponents to react as they dart between terrain pieces and threaten objectives from unexpected angles. Cover 1 provides valuable protection while crossing open ground, helping offset their lighter defenses, while Independent: Aim 1 or Dodge 1 ensures they remain effective even when operating far from friendly commanders.

The Heavy Blaster Pistol provides dependable ranged firepower out to Range 2, letting the riders soften up vulnerable targets before closing in. Once they reach melee, the Vibro-Ax becomes their weapon of choice, but the real threat comes from Overrun 2. As the Swoop Bike Riders race through enemy formations, they can make additional attacks during their movement before continuing on their path. Combined with their exceptional mobility, Swoop Bike Riders can weave through enemy lines, punish exposed units, and reposition before the enemy has an opportunity to respond.

Rounding out the unit is Reinforcements. At the start of the End Phase of the first round, Reinforcements grants the Swoop Bike Riders a move, allowing them to close on key objectives or even begin threatening enemy flanks.

Be careful though, they’re not built to win prolonged firefights or hold defensive positions. Instead, they’re better used by exploiting openings and disrupting battle plans before the enemy can mount an effective response. For players looking to add speed and a healthy dose of controlled chaos to their armies, Swoop Bike Riders are ready to rev their engines and charge into the fight!

And the best part is? They’re up for pre-order now.
