Scene To Stats: Leaders of the Separatist Alliance

09/09/2026

In today’s transmission, we’ll be taking a look at the exciting Commanders and Operatives who’ll be able to lead your Separatists armies in STAR WARS: Legion.

With this expansion, Admiral Trench, Count Dooku, and General Grievous enter battle as Commanders, while Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress serve as Operatives, offering several distinct ways to lead an army or hunt its most valuable targets.

A Separatist admiral known for his cunning and ruthlessness, Admiral Trench commanded the Separatist blockade of Christophsis, where Senator Bail Organa and his relief effort were pinned down. Although Anakin Skywalker outwitted him and Trench’s flagship was destroyed, the skilled tactician survived to fight another day for the Separatist Alliance.

The talent for trapping an opponent is at the center of Admiral Trench’s unit card. He’s not built to charge into the enemy line, but rather to manage the battle from safety and punish opposing units for acting according to plan. Direct: Flying Vehicle provides him an avenue to disrupt enemy forces while Entourage: Kraken improves order control when his most trusted tactical droid, Kraken, is nearby.

Override lets a nearby unit ignore its AI keyword for an activation if Admiral Trench accepts a Suppression token, providing a safeguard when the normal order chain breaks down. And his Orbital Strike also offers a powerful long range attack with Immune, Deflect and Impact 3, allowing him to threaten armor without approaching the fighting directly.

Through Equip: Caught in a Web, Admiral Trench must take the zero point Caught in a Web upgrade that introduces Ploy tokens. Its action chooses up to two visible enemy units within range 5 and gives each a Ploy token, and Admiral Trench may perform it twice during one activation. When a marked trooper attacks an ally, a token can be spent to give the attacker two Suppression tokens after the attack.

I Smell Fear… and It Smells Good expands that system across the round, allowing Ploy tokens to remove a green token, add two Suppression tokens, or return a faceup order token to the opponent’s pool. An enemy carrying a Ploy token must constantly consider which part of its plan Admiral Trench may choose to disrupt.

Count Dooku remains an elite duelist and control piece in Legion. Cunning helps him contest priority, Direct: Trooper Unit supports the Separatist order chain, and Master of the Force 2 keeps two exhausted Force upgrades ready. His lightsaber combines Impact 2 and Pierce 2, while Force Lightning adds Pierce 1, Scatter, and Suppressive at range.

Fear, Surprise, Intimidation turns him into a relentless multiple target attacker, Double the Fall disrupts enemy orders, and You Disappoint Me lets him move a trooper after attacking it with a ranged attack. His command card, The Sith Will Rule, becomes especially dangerous beside Asajj Ventress by allowing her to activate after Count Dooku.

A former Jedi Padawan turned assassin, Asajj Ventress was trained in the ways of the dark side by Count Dooku. For many years, she yearned to be considered a true Sith, secretly acting as Count Dooku’s apprentice.

Asajj Ventress is a fast Operative built to cross terrain and pressure isolated targets. Jump 2 and Relentless carry her into combat, while Independent, Dodge 1, Deflect, and Jar’Kai Mastery turn Dodge tokens into protection and stronger melee results. The Jedi Shall Fall lets her gain Suppression in exchange for Dodge tokens while granting Jedi Hunter, and I Am Fear ends her next activation with a powerful Force Choke attack. Yes, My Master lets her permanently choose between Bounty and Reinforcements, or a control focused package of Demoralize 1, Makashi Mastery, and Outmaneuver.

General Grievous was a brilliant Separatist military strategist and a feared Jedi hunter, known for his ruthlessness and hacking cough. His body itself was a weapon, allowing him lightning quick strikes and devastating blows. As such, the general brings speed and some serious offensive output to Separatist armies.

Relentless and Scale help him close the distance, while Block, Immune, Pierce, and Jedi Hunter prepare him for clashes with Force users. Trained in Your Jedi Arts grants Disengage before unleashing an attack against every enemy within range 1 at the end of his activation. Supreme Commander spreads Surge tokens through nearby troopers and gives General Grievous Ruthless, while Crush Them! grows stronger as enemy units are defeated.

Savage Opress was once a common Nightbrother whose fighting prowess impressed Asajj Ventress. Transformed into a monstrous warrior by Mother Talzin, Savage Opress became Count Dooku’s new assassin and secret Sith apprentice. His loyalty, however, remained to Mother Talzin. The Nightsisters’ leader gave Savage Opress a new quest, to find his brother, Darth Maul, who had somehow survived his apparent death and was living in exile in the Outer Rim. Savage Opress located Maul and then became his brother’s enforcer in the Shadow Collective.

Savage Opress can be fielded as an Operative in either the Separatist Alliance or the Shadow Collective Mercenary factions. Both versions share the same core statistics, weapons, and battlefield role, with the factional difference being Retinue, which is tied to Count Dooku in a Separatist army and Maul in the Shadow Collective. Staying near that character gives Savage Opress an Aim or Dodge token at the start of the Activation Phase.

Savage Opress becomes more dangerous after taking damage. Enrage 2 grants him Charge and a null courage value once he has at least two Wounds, allowing him to move directly into an attack without being hindered by Suppression. His double bladed lightsaber combines a large melee pool with Impact 2, Pierce 2, and Ram 1. After Savage Opress moves, Ram 1 can convert a result to a Critical, making movement part of his offensive plan. Jump 1 carries him across terrain, while Demoralize 1 adds Suppression to a nearby enemy after his Rally step. Dark Fury provides a ranged option with Poison 1 and Scatter, letting him weaken or disrupt a unit before committing to melee.

We Shall Start with Revenge captures the dangerous bond between Savage Opress and Maul. Savage Opress may suffer Wounds up to the current round number, after which both brothers gain Aim tokens based on the Wounds they have suffered. The card can deliberately trigger Enrage 2, load Savage Opress with Aim tokens, and return one of Maul’s discarded command cards to the player’s hand. Every additional Wound brings Savage Opress closer to defeat while also increasing his potency, making the timing of the card as important as the attack it prepares.

For the Cause ties the collection together by issuing orders to one Commander and two Operatives, with each ordered unit gaining a Surge token. It offers a clean way to coordinate the expansion’s mixed ranks, whether the plan centers on Admiral Trench’s manipulation, Count Dooku’s control, General Grievous’s command, or aggressive strikes from Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress.

Together, these leaders show the different forces holding the Separatist Alliance together. Admiral Trench disrupts enemy plans, Count Dooku controls the battle through the Force, Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress hunt priority targets, and General Grievous drives the droid army forward through fear and violence. Each brings a distinct command style to the Separatist cause in Star Wars: Legion. Who will you use to lead your forces to victory?
