Scene-To-Stats: Han & Chewie, Notorious Scoundrels

In today’s transmission, we’re excited to share a new iteration of perhaps the most beloved and famous duos in the galaxy.

Before they became some of the greatest heroes of the Rebel Alliance, Han & Chewbacca worked together as smugglers. As such, this unit brings that earlier chapter of their partnership to the battlefield as two iconic smugglers who excel at claiming objectives and turning risky plays into victories in STAR WARS: Legion. Sounds familiar!

Unlike many other Mercenary Operatives that specialize in eliminating enemy units, Han Solo & Chewbacca thrive around objectives. Their signature Eyes on the Prize: Steady keyword immediately sets the tone, allowing them to gain Steady while contesting objectives. Self Preservation prevents them from using the courage value of units that do not share their Affiliation, while Uncanny Luck 2 gives them defensive consistency by allowing rerolls on defense. When these rerolls combine with Surge, Han & Chewie become surprisingly resilient for a two miniature unit.

Han Solo, Reckless Smuggler transforms the unit into a far more aggressive gunfighter. The unit gains Tough, Independent, Aim 1, and most notably Gunslinger, allowing it to fire at two different targets during the same attack action.

You may be wondering, what is the new Tough keyword?

A miniature with Tough can be assigned Wounds even if it is the unit leader or does not have the most Wound tokens in the unit. For our dastardly duo, that means they can spread damage between them and stay at full combat effectiveness for longer. Pretty on brand!

The Chewbacca, Courageous Co-Pilot upgrade also gives the unit Tough, while Defend 1 generates additional Dodge tokens to improve durability. His trusty Bowcaster carries both Impact 1 and Pierce 1, giving the unit an answer to armored enemies and vehicles without sacrificing effectiveness against troopers. Combined with his melee weapon, Overwhelm, opponents are reminded that closing the distance with an angry Wookiee is rarely a good idea.

Whether players lean toward Han Solo’s daring bravado or Chewbacca’s steadfast presence, both upgrades reinforce the strengths that have kept the pair alive through countless dangerous situations.

Looking at the Command Cards, Never Tell Me the Odds allows Han & Chewie to issue an Order to themselves. At the start of their next turn, they can begin their activation with two Aim tokens and Marksman which greatly improves their offense. If they end their activation on an objective, then it  grants them two Dodge tokens and removes all Suppression, making them much harder to dislodge. Pretty neat.

Wookiee Life Debt celebrates the lifelong bond between Han and Chewie. If an allied Chewbacca miniature is on the battlefield, Han & Chewie, or a nearby Luke or Leia, can take a Suppression token when targeted to gain Armor 1, while Han & Chewie get Guardian 2 until the attack is resolved. The benefits of having a Wookie as a best friend!

Rounding out the trio is Boring Conversation Anyway, an offensive Command Card that encourages the classic Rebel heroes to fight together. Han & Chewie, Luke, and Leia can each issue Orders to themselves, ensuring key heroes activate when needed. Whenever one of them attacks, every Critical result generated during Surge conversion adds an additional Hit result to the attack pool, dramatically increasing their damage output for the round. Used at the right moment, this card can amp up the output of multiple attacks from these heroes.

Han & Chewie, Notorious Smugglers embody everything players can expect from one of the galaxy’s most iconic duos. They combine mobility and objective focused gameplay with enough firepower to punish opponents who underestimate them.

Whether they’re escaping another dangerous job, protecting their friends, or diving headfirst into danger, Han Solo and Chewbacca always find a way to beat the odds in STAR WARS: Legion.
