From Panel to Play: Ultimate Spider-Man, Prowler, & Spider-Man 2099

09/10/2025

We return to spider related characters in today’s From Panel to Play, your first look at the newest additions to Marvel: Crisis Protocol! This pack features two Web Warriors and one Spider-Foe. Aaron Davis, a.k.a. Prowler, joins those fighting against the spider-people as a high-tech thief capable of brawling with the best of them. Opposing him are two famous Web Warriors, Miguel O’Hara, better known as Spider-Man 2099, a heavy weight brawler and Miles Morales, older and more mature than his previous incarnation, as Ultimate Spider-Man!

Let’s start with everyone’s favorite high-tech thief, Prowler. Aaron Davis and his brother, Jefferson, were often at odds due to Aaron’s illegal activities. They eventually went their separate ways with Jefferson settling down and becoming the father of Miles Morales. Aaron went on to become a high-tech burglar working with multiple villains.

As a character in Marvel: Crisis Protocol, Prowler has a Threat Value of 4 and solid defensive stats along with a Long movement Speed and the Wallcrawler and Stealth superpowers.

Prowler’s suite of attacks give him a variety of options for engaging with his enemies. His first attack, Prowler Gauntlet Strike, is a solid attack with both the Pierce and Suppressive special rules which will both be triggered by a single Wild result in the attack roll. Covert Armament is a deceptive attack that allows Prowler to gain a bit of Power from afar and prevents his target from modifying their defense dice–a useful effect against the Web Warriors.

His final attack is Nothing Personal, Just Business. This attack has a solid Strength stat and good Range along with two excellent special rules. The first allows Prowler to Advance after attacking while the second gives him a chance to Throw most enemies before dealing damage that may Daze them. Neither the Advance nor the Throw use Toward/Away language giving Prowler plenty of flexibility in dealing with his enemies.

Prowler’s Long Speed stat doesn’t have to do all the work on its own. He also has the Charge superpower ensuring he will be able to engage on his terms and usually get two attacks most activations. Sometimes attacks don’t go Aaron’s way. When this happens he can use You’re Right, I Can Do Better. This superpower lets him reroll all dice in the attack roll, including Failures. This is not as powerful as superpowers that let you reroll any dice, but should his attack roll fall flat, he stands to gain a lot from this superpower.

No good thief is lacking in tools and Prowler’s Custom-Designed Burglar Gadgets are excellent. This Innate superpower grants him Power after the first time he Interacts with an objective token. This allows him to get and keep his Power generation going without relying on allied effects or good dice rolls.

Opposing Prowler is none other than Miles Morales, his nephew, a.k.a. Ultimate Spider-Man. This version of Miles is much older and wiser than his previous incarnation, displaying mastery of many of the abilities his earlier version already uses to great effect!

Miles has leveled up into a Threat Value 4 character with solid defenses stats and Long movement along with the well-known Stealth and Wallcrawler superpowers. He comes with three solid attacks. The first attack is Swinging Strike, a Power generating attack that can Web Up enemies which will Push enemies towards him and leave them with the Slow special condition. Backing this attack up is the Stun Web, a long-range attack that disrupts enemy Power generation while boosting Miles’ Power. His final attack is the Mastered Venom Blast. This formidable attack will Shock and Stun enemies prior to dealing damage, disrupting their ability to retaliate. Additionally, if the Electrical Arc rule triggers, enemies near the target will take damage.

Backing up these attacks are potent superpowers. Ultimate Spider-Sense lets him reroll Failures when defending or dodging. Additionally, it gives him the ability to reroll up to 2 of these dice. Web Swing was one of the first Miles Morales’s superpowers and it has returned. This superpower Places him within Range 3 and boosts his next Swinging Strike attack.

Finally, Miles has the ultimate clapback. You Did You. Now Imma Do My Thing. is a potent Reactive superpower that allows Miles to move towards his attacker and strike back with a Swinging Strike.

Backing up, or maybe chasing down, Miles is the final character in this box, Miguel O’Hara, a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099. Miguel gained his powers by performing a genetic splicing experiment on himself that spliced spider genes into his DNA. These genes manifest in many physical ways including talons and fangs. This multiverse traveling Spider-Man hails from a technologically advanced world where he puts his genius to work creating many powerful gadgets.

Spider-Man 2099 is a durable brawler that hunts down his prey with a multitude of movement effects that ensure no enemy on the battlefield is safe from his talons. This Medium moving 5 Threat Value character has solid defenses and a moderate Stamina pool of 7/6. This Stamina is backed up by Healing Factor [1] and his potent Spider Talons attack.

Spider Talons is a straightforward Strength 6 attack with the Pierce and Heal special rules. These rules highlight his ability to punch through enemy defenses and absorb their life force to recover his own stamina. Like many of the Web Warriors he has a long-range attack that has guaranteed Power generation in the form of Organic Web Shot. This attack has the Pursuit special rule that can allow him to chase enemies he attacks, potentially setting up his final attack, 2099 Sends Its Regards. There are multiple special rules on this attack, including two that trigger before damage is dealt. The first of these is the application of two special conditions: Poison and Stun. The last thing a character wants to have applied right before taking damage from a Strength 8 attack is Stun which will reduce the Power gained from this attack’s damage to 1. The second rule is Throw which may send most characters flying a Short distance. While these two rules create strong effects to justify the 4-Power cost, it has one final rule. After the attack has resolved, Miguel can be Placed within Range 1 of the defender. Even when he throws his targets away from him, he stays on them to finish the fight.

Between Organic Web Shot and 2099 Sends Its Regards Spider-Man 2099 has great mobility. This is further enhanced by his Active superpower, Web Whip. This superpower Pushes enemies towards him and allows him to be Placed next to them after the movement is complete.

If all the movement above isn’t enough, Miguel’s Reactive superpower, Acceleration Decoy, gives a little bit more. This superpower allows him to reroll any defense die (including Failures) when attacked and then Place himself within Range 2 of his current location.

The last superpower on Spider-Man 2099’s card is the Future Tech Genius Innate superpower. This allows him to gain Power whenever his dice rolls contain a Critical result, ensuring he can fuel his abilities. It also aids his hunt by allowing him to ignore the Stealth superpower and the effects of Cover.

Neither Miles nor Miguel have leadership abilities. Given how often they are seen leading the Web Warriors this may seem to be an unusual choice. With that in mind, let’s talk about the Web of the Spider-Verse Team Tactic Card. This card requires Web Warrior players to forgo using any Leadership abilities. This does not mean you cannot use the original Miles Morales or Amazing Spider-Man in your squad, however, as activating a Leadership is optional. Should its condition be met, this card will grant all Web Warrior affiliated characters a new Innate superpower, Into the Spider-Verse. Take a look:

Every attack, defense, and dodge roll is an opportunity to Place your characters creating all sorts of attack and escape angles for the Web Warriors. This superpower looks at the dice rolls after the effect is resolved so if characters like Spider-Man 2099 and Ultimate Spider-Man use Acceleration Decoy and Ultimate Spider-Sense, respectively, to reroll away from their Failures they will not benefit from this superpower. It might be a good idea to keep one of those results in some cases.

Rounding out the rest of the pack are four more Team Tactic Cards: Brief Reprieve which gives the Web Warriors a brief chance to recover mid-battle, Spider-Men a card that may remind veteran players of the famous Drop Off Team Tactic Card, Prowler’s High Tech Heist that gives him additional ways to interact with the mission, and Spider-Man 2099’s Great Power that spends both Power and Stamina to modify an attack.
