While the Avengers assemble against invading Hydra robots, S.H.I.E.L.D. operates behind the scenes, infiltrating hidden bases and disrupting enemy plans on their own turf.

The Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate, better known as S.H.I.E.L.D., is an independent covert agency often aligned with world governments. Its mission is to defend the planet from superpowered, paranormal, and extraordinary threats. Though its agents often remain unseen, they stand as the barrier between everyday life and global catastrophe.

With MCP03, the S.H.I.E.L.D. Affiliation Pack, players gain a strong foundation for building out a S.H.I.E.L.D. force. The box includes Nick Fury, Jr. alongside two of the organization’s most recognizable agents and Avengers, Hawkeye and Black Widow, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. It also pairs naturally with the Earth’s Mightiest Core Set, which already includes additional S.H.I.E.L.D.-aligned characters.

Nick Fury, Jr., born Marcus Johnson, spent much of his life unaware of his lineage as the son of Nick Fury and Nia Jones. After serving in the United States military and discovering the truth during the War of the Serpent, he embraced his legacy and joined S.H.I.E.L.D., eventually rising to serve as a key operative under Director Maria Hill.

On the tabletop in Marvel: Crisis Protocol, Fury acts as both a capable frontline presence and a strong support leader. He has the durability to stay engaged and brings solid Physical and Mystic defenses. Offensively, he offers a versatile toolkit of Physical attacks.

His core attacks, Fury Special and Tactical Knife, both roll five dice and benefit from Pierce, with the knife also applying Bleed. When focusing down priority targets, Lead from the Front delivers a stronger seven dice attack and allows a nearby allied S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents character to advance and make a Pistol attack, adding coordinated pressure.

Fury’s leadership ability, Last Line of Defense, reflects S.H.I.E.L.D.’s refusal to back down. The first time an allied character is dazed or KO’d each round, his team gains victory points. Additionally, if his team is tied or ahead on victory points, allied characters can spend Power to advance toward attackers when damaged, maintaining forward momentum in the face of a crisis.

Fury rarely operates alone. Supporting him are S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents, a specialized Grunt unit that represents the organization’s operational depth. Through Call in the Cavalry, Fury can deploy these Agents directly onto the battlefield, allowing them to immediately interact with Extract objectives. Whether securing civilians or retrieving critical assets, they are always ready to step in.

Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. further enhances these Agents, allowing them to reroll a die on attack or defense rolls when within range of Fury, while also generating Power for Fury when they deal or take damage.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents themselves bring unique utility. As Grunts, they are tied to Fury and provide support despite their limited durability. Their Buy You Time ability allows them to interact with Civilian and Asset tokens without spending Power. When they drop an objective, their controlling player chooses its placement, giving valuable control over the battlefield.

Clint Barton, known as Hawkeye, began his career as a circus marksman before becoming a vigilante inspired by Iron Man. After an early misstep led him down the wrong path, he eventually found his place among the Avengers and later became a trusted S.H.I.E.L.D. agent alongside Natasha Romanoff.

In Marvel: Crisis Protocol, Hawkeye is an efficient three threat ranged attacker with strong positioning tools. His attacks can target Physical or Energy defenses at range five, allowing him to exploit weaknesses. Trick Shot enables him to ignore line of sight by firing through terrain, giving him unique angles of attack.

Hook Arrow allows Hawkeye to reposition quickly, placing him within range three for just two Power. This mobility is key to maintaining distance, especially given his Fast Draw ability, which allows him to attack an enemy before they attack him if they are outside range three. Proper positioning is essential to maximizing this ability.

Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, was trained in the Red Room before breaking free and joining S.H.I.E.L.D., eventually becoming one of its most elite operatives and a core member of the Avengers.

Black Widow, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., focuses on control and setup. Her Automatic Pistol and Tear Gas build Power and apply conditions like Poison, while Widow’s Kiss delivers a stronger Energy attack that scales with the number of conditions on the target.

Her Parting Shot ability allows her to deal damage and reposition after being attacked, working well with her Stealth to keep her safe. Her Interrogate superpower adds a powerful scoring tool, granting an additional victory point during the Cleanup Phase if she is near a dazed enemy. With proper setup, this can be used repeatedly across a game.

S.H.I.E.L.D.’s access to advanced technology, including weapons, transport, and medical support, is reflected in its team tactics. Many of these tools provide enhanced versions of familiar effects, reinforcing the faction’s identity as a well equipped and highly coordinated force.

Whether expanding a S.H.I.E.L.D. roster or adding versatile Avengers like Hawkeye and Black Widow, MCP03 offers a wide range of options for players looking to control the battlefield and stay one step ahead of the threat.
