What would Spider-Man be without villains like the Green Goblin standing in his way? Heroes are often defined by the challenges they overcome, and Marvel: Crisis Protocol Alliances – Night of the Goblin is no different. Green Goblin and his minions are causing chaos across New York, and it’s up to Spider-Man and his allies to stop them.

Green Goblin has two sides and a modifier card. Oscorp Weaponry is an effect that lasts through every stage and makes enemy attacks more likely to deal damage to the heroes. His card also has a mini boss side that becomes relevant outside of the boss battle, along with a much stronger boss version. When a hero triggers the Pitfall during enemy spawning, Green Goblin joins the fray, attacking the heroes and spreading the Incinerate special condition with his pumpkin bombs.

Green Goblin isn’t alone. His minions bring different problems for the heroes to solve throughout each stage. His goons rush into combat, while the robotic Spider Slayers fire energy weapons from long range and stay close to objectives, making them much harder for most heroes to interact with. War Goblins use gliders and pumpkin bombs to move faster and deal more damage as the stronger Brutes.

As seen in other transmissions, players will complete 2 stages before the boss battle, with 3 stages to choose from. Players decide which stages they want to tackle and in what order, with each presenting a different problem for the heroes to solve.

The Green Goblin is poisoning the populace of New York with his Goblin Serum! Our friendly neighborhood heroes must gather samples from the Green Goblin’s minions and synthesize them into an anti serum using Oscorp Labs equipment!
During this stage, the heroes must defeat minions to collect ingredients, then use 2 matching ingredients to synthesize a sample of serum at Oscorp Labs. Since the ingredients drop randomly, players need to react to where they appear while continuing to deal with enemies, then bring them to the appropriate matching objective on the board.

The Green Goblin has rigged Trick or Treat bombs throughout the Daily Bugle. Spider-Man and his allies must disarm the bombs before the countdown reaches zero.
During this stage, when the heroes interact with a bomb, they roll 4 dice and use those results to defuse it. Meanwhile, the countdown continues, with bombs potentially detonating each round while enemies try to interfere.

The Green Goblin’s Goblin Army is pouring into Times Square from the sewers. It’s up to the heroes to block the manholes and put a stop to the assault.
While enemies swarm the board, players must move terrain to jam the manholes they are emerging from. This combat heavy stage asks players to clear space while getting terrain into position.

Spider-Man and his allies have chased Green Goblin to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge. The heroes may have him cornered, but the fight is far from over.
In the climactic battle, Green Goblin flies across the battlefield along random flight paths and deals heavy damage to any hero in his path, while the heroes must Daze him 3 times.

Luckily, the heroes have set up Web Lines to slow him down. By positioning the braces so that two point toward one another, players can create a Web Line across Green Goblin’s path. When he moves through one or more Web Lines, his movement immediately ends, he suffers 10 damage, and gains the Shock special condition before the braces return to their starting positions.
That makes the final battle as much a puzzle as it is a fight. Players need to anticipate Green Goblin’s movement and position the Web Lines where they can stop his advance, creating openings for the team to attack.
By changing the stages they choose and reacting to the random elements within each one, players can face Green Goblin’s plans in different ways from game to game. Stay tuned for more on Marvel: Crisis Protocol Alliances – Night of the Goblin.
