Few figures in STAR WARS carry themselves with the same quiet gravity as Baylan Skoll. A former Jedi turned mercenary philosopher, Baylan walks a deliberate path shaped by regret, ambition, and an unshakable belief that the galaxy must be broken to be remade. In STAR WARS: Shatterpoint, that worldview is etched directly into his mechanics. Baylan is not a reckless aggressor. He is a patient force of inevitability.

Baylan Skoll enters the battlefield as a Primary Unit at 7 squad points with 10 stamina and 3 durability. He is built to endure, accumulate pressure, and then convert that pressure into decisive blows at precisely the right moment. Every part of his kit revolves around Hunker tokens, a representation of stored pressure and discipline, waiting for the moment his opponent makes a mistake.

His first Active Ability, Power, Such as You’ve Never Dreamed, sets the tone. Baylan draws an enemy within range 3 toward himself, pulling them range two toward him before gaining a Hunker. Baylan displaces his opponent while daring them to commit on his terms, rewarding his patience the moment they do.
Force-Enhanced Dexterity reinforces that dominance over space. The former Jedi may Dash, while gaining a Hunker token. Crucially, this ability can be used twice during his activation, exceeding the standard limit. That flexibility allows Baylan to reposition, pressure objectives, or close distance while steadily increasing his Hunker token economy.
That economy matters because Baylan’s Identity, One Must Destroy in Order to Create, fundamentally rewrites how allied units interact with Hunker tokens. Allied units do not lose Hunker when they become engaged and may continue to gain and have Hunker while engaged. When an allied character makes an attack, Baylan allows them to remove Hunker during the Modify Dice Step to add additional dice to the attack roll. Patience is not defensive here. It is converted directly into overwhelming offense once the opening appears.
Impatience for Victory Will Guarantee Defeat captures Baylan’s long view of conflict. At the start of another allied unit’s activation, when that unit would normally remove its Hunker, Baylan allows you to choose not to. If you do, all of that unit’s Hunker is removed at the end of its activation instead. This synergizes perfectly with his Identity.
In addition, after setup and each time the opposing player claims a Struggle Card, each allied unit gains a Hunker token. Baylan thrives in prolonged conflicts, growing stronger as the struggle escalates. Every claimed objective rewards restraint, while impatience is quietly punished.
Baylan’s two stances define how that stored pressure is released.

Form V Djem So emphasizes retaliation and raw strength. With strong melee dice and aggressive conversion, this stance rewards Baylan for standing his ground and answering violence with decisive counterforce. This is the moment when an opponent finally commits, only to discover Baylan has been ready the entire time. His combat tree leans into damage with early access to conditions, punishing anyone who chooses to duel him head-on.

Form VI Niman reflects Baylan’s balance and adaptability. This stance offers slightly less raw aggression but greater flexibility, with improved defensive conversion and easier access to healing and movement effects. It allows Baylan to remain present on objectives, control space, and continue applying pressure without overcommitting, waiting for the enemy to overextend.
Together, these stances present a choice not between offense and defense, but between certainty and control. Baylan can dominate through strength or suffocate opponents through patience.
Baylan Skoll rewards restraint, timing, and a clear understanding of when to act. He does not rush the end of the fight. He ensures it is inevitable.
