Now some people say that an army is only as effective as its mobility. In this case, the Grand Army of the Republic was outfitted with an increasingly varied and versatile vehicle pool as the Clone Wars progressed. The BARC speeder gave a single clone trooper increased operational range, great speed, mobility, and firepower otherwise unavailable to a regular soldier. Naturally, Jedi Generals and Commanders started utilizing these machines as well.

The Jedi General on BARC Speeder expansion brings that battlefield role directly into Star Wars: Legion, but how that role plays out depends on who is in the driver’s seat. Players can build their miniatures as either Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, or a generic Jedi General, giving Republic players three approaches to taking command from the front lines.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mounted Jedi General reflects the calm, defensive leadership associated with the Jedi Master. His abilities allow him to remain in the thick of combat while protecting both himself and nearby clone troopers. Rather than relying solely on offense, Obi-Wan Kenobi rewards careful positioning and coordinated assaults, making him an ideal centerpiece for Republic armies that prefer to methodically control objectives while steadily wearing down the enemy. His Force upgrades expand his utility, giving players additional opportunities to support allies, manipulate enemy positioning, or improve his own survivability.

As his reputation suggests, Anakin Skywalker approaches mounted combat very differently. Fast, aggressive, and constantly looking for the decisive blow, Anakin Skywalker, Mounted Jedi General excels at diving directly into enemy formations before they have time to react. His command abilities and offensive toolkit encourage players to stay on the attack, using the BARC speeder’s mobility to engage priority targets and pressure objectives across the table. Where Obi-Wan Kenobi rewards careful planning, Anakin Skywalker rewards bold decisions, giving Republic players two distinctly different mounted Commander options. And we still have one more to go!

Between them sits the Mounted Jedi General that combines the agility of a speeder with the melee lethality of a Force user.

Thanks to Speeder 1, the unit is constantly repositioning, making it difficult for opponents to predict where it will strike next. Cover 1 provides additional protection against incoming ranged attacks on top of its red defense dice, while Immune: Pierce prevents even elite enemy marksmen or melee threats from bypassing its defenses. Supporting nearby clones is equally important thanks to Aid: Clone Trooper, allowing the Mounted Jedi General to distribute valuable tokens to nearby Clone Trooper units and improve the efficiency of the Republic battle line. The unit also possesses Command Vehicle 2, allowing it to issue orders to friendly trooper units and continue functioning as a capable battlefield Commander even while racing ahead of the army.

That speed gives the Mounted Jedi General plenty of ways to choose how and where to fight. The Twin Blaster Cannon provides reliable ranged pressure at Range 3 and features Fixed: Front, rewarding careful positioning while the speeder races across the battlefield. Once the distance closes, however, the Mounted Jedi General truly comes alive with its Lightsaber attack.

Featuring Impact 2, Pierce 1, Scatter, and Overrun 1, the weapon threatens nearly every target in the game. Impact 2 allows the Mounted Jedi General to challenge armored vehicles, while Pierce 1 cuts through enemy defenses to consistently push damage onto elite units. Scatter gives the Jedi General additional control by repositioning enemy troopers after combat, potentially pulling units off objectives or exposing vulnerable targets for the rest of your army. Meanwhile, Overrun 1 rewards aggressive movement by allowing the speeder to threaten enemy formations as it moves through them. Together, these abilities create the image of a Jedi racing through enemy ranks before bringing a lightsaber to bear. Pretty cool, right?

Unlike many Commanders that excel at either ranged combat or melee, the Mounted Jedi General can transition between both roles throughout the course of a game. Upgrade cards push that flexibility even further. Force, Training, and Command upgrades allow players to enhance mobility, survivability, and battlefield control while reinforcing each Jedi’s unique strengths.

Evasive Action improves survivability while maintaining battlefield momentum while Into the Breach rewards aggressive play, encouraging Jedi to lead assaults from the front lines. Finally, I’m Sorry Master, I Didn’t Catch That highlights the partnership between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, creating opportunities for coordinated plays between the two characters.

Whether players favor Obi-Wan Kenobi’s careful control, Anakin Skywalker’s aggressive pressure, or the flexibility of a generic Jedi General, the BARC speeder gives each of them the mobility to influence the battle wherever they are needed.

Combined with versatile upgrades, powerful command cards, and the ability to transition between ranged combat and melee, Mounted Jedi Generals offer Republic players a different way to lead their armies in STAR WARS: Legion.
