Databank Download: Shin Hati & HK-87 Assassin Droids

Where Baylan Skoll embodies patience and inevitability, Shin Hati represents impatience sharpened into a weapon. Trained as Baylan’s apprentice, Shin fights with raw aggression and unrestrained ambition, always pressing forward, always eager to prove herself. In STAR WARS: Shatterpoint, she is paired with the cold precision of HK 87 Assassin Droids, forming a volatile strike group that thrives on relentless pressure and unforgiving follow up.

Her Tactics Ability, Furious Rush, captures that eagerness perfectly. Shin may Dash, if she ends up engaged with an enemy character, she gives them the exposed condition. While she may rush in, she ensures she does so when the opportunity best presents itself to ensure an aggressive advantage.

That aggression is amplified through Trained to Be Something More. After another allied Force User makes a combat action, Shin can either Reposition or gain a Hunker, then immediately follow up with a five dice attack against the same target. This ability allows Shin to stay glued to her master’s targets, assisting in tandem via additional attacks that keep the pressure on her enemies.

Shin’s recklessness is not without consequence, and Riposte ensures opponents pay for every misstep. After a melee attack targeting Shin is resolved, if the attacker rolled one or more failures, the attacking unit suffers two damage. This is a reminder that engaging Shin up close is dangerous, especially for enemies already pushed off balance.

Finally, her passive ability, Impatience, defines her limitations as much as her strengths. Shin’s Order Card cannot be placed in reserve, forcing her into action whether she is ready or not. In exchange, she gains immunity to the Disarmed and Pinned conditions, and her Hunker tokens become fuel for her abilities. When Shin would spend Force to use an ability, she may instead remove Hunker to reduce that cost, reflecting her tendency to burn through discipline for immediate results.

On the table, Shin’s single stance, Form I Shii Cho, supports her role as a relentless skirmisher. Her combat tree offers solid damage, early movement, and access to healing allowing her to stay aggressive while surviving longer than her opponents may believe. A worthy apprentice.

Backing Shin’s aggression are the HK-87 Assassin Droids, a Supporting Unit at 3 squad points with 7 stamina and 2 durability. Where Shin is emotional and impulsive, the HK units are methodical, unfeeling, and purpose built to hunt high value targets.

Their Tactics Ability, On the Trail, allows each droid to Dash toward an enemy at the start of their activation, ensuring they are always advancing and applying pressure, closing the distance with intent.

Target Priority Protocols makes their role clear. When attacking a Primary character, HK-87 Assassin Droids add two dice to their attack roll. These droids are designed to bring down Primary Units, pairing exceptionally well with Shin’s ability to expose and soften priority targets. If they can spend Hunker tokens as well, when paired with Baylan, this can be quite the potent strike indeed.

Survivability comes from Unstoppable Machine, which grants Protection and Steadfast while the droids are engaged with enemy Primary characters. True to form, once they lock onto a target, it is difficult to escape their reach.

Their Reactive Ability, Avoidance Protocols, allows them to shed all Hunker tokens after being attacked and, if any were removed, Dash in any direction. This gives the HK-87 Assassin Droids an unusual blend of stickiness and escape, letting them disengage after absorbing pressure or reposition to better re-engage on their terms.

The Elimination Protocols stance reinforces their efficiency. Solid ranged and melee attack values, paired with a combat tree that offers reliable damage and repositioning, allow them to adapt as the battle shifts. If they hit the full tree, which is not unlikely given the synergies within the squad, they can often hit 6 damage on offense.

Together, Shin Hati and the HK-87 Assassin Droids form a ruthless strike package. Shin creates openings through aggression and relentless follow up, while the droids exploit those openings with calculated violence. It is a pairing that rewards forward momentum, target fixation, and refusing to let enemies recover once pressure is applied. Once you add Baylan Skoll into the mix, it gets pretty scary for whomever stands against them.

Shin Hati and HK-87 Assassin Droids are available for pre-order, alongside Baylan Skoll in the Secure the Future Squad Pack, at local friendly game stores and through the Asmodee webstore.
