Scene to Stats: Captain Solo & Commander Skywalker on Tauntauns

“I thought they smelled bad on the outside…”
– Han Solo, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes BackTM

The Rebellion needs all the heroes it can get, and it found several on the unlikely world of Tatooine. Medaled for their heroics at the Battle of Yavin and duly promoted within the ranks of the Rebel Alliance, Commander Skywalker and Captain Solo followed with the Rebellion to the frontier of the galaxy and established Echo Base far from the wrathful gaze of the Galactic Empire. The tauntauns native to Hoth, far better acclimated to the harsh climate than the rebels, proved capable and domesticable steeds, well-suited to the task of reconnoitering the rolling snow drifts and icy crevasses. Join us for more in this installment of Scene to Stats, where we dive into these exciting reinterpretations of classic Star WarsTM: Legion characters for the Rebel Alliance: the Captain Solo & Commander Skywalker on Tauntauns expansion!

Luke Skywalker returns to the battlefields of Star Wars: Legion, this time as Commander Skywalker, riding into battle atop a dependable tauntaun. The free Card actions Spotter 1 and Take Cover 1 allow Luke to support your army with no loss of his own tempo, or to gain tokens himself to fuel his own weapon keywords such as Lethal and Long Shot. With Relentless and Spur, he is a swift combatant, able to deftly reposition to a flank and threaten distant enemies with Luke’s Blaster or run them down with the powerful Lightsaber & Horn Melee attack, featuring Impact, Lethal, Pierce, and Ram all combined for a heroic charge!

Hopping into the saddle alongside Luke is Han Solo, Reluctant Hero. This version of Han is an Operative unit, none too interested in the burden of leadership the princess and the
Rebellion would thrust upon him. With the Independent keyword, Han Solo is most efficient when taking orders from no one, and his shoot-first approach to conflict is realized in his Charge and Arsenal keywords; his Attack Pool is at its most potent in Melee, combining Stampede and Han’s DL-44 Blaster.

Three brand new Command Cards are included alongside these versions of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. See You in Hell is unique to this version of Han Solo and permanently grants him the rare and incredibly powerful Unstoppable keyword, allowing him the ability to Activate twice each Round. You might play this Command Card early to fuel his actions for the entire game or save it for a Round or two into the battle, to best take advantage of its Disengage and to get Han Solo, Reluctant Hero out of a bind! On Patrol is similarly exclusive to Luke Skywalker, Commander Skywalker, ordering your units to apply ample Observation tokens to the approaching enemy, and granting your Creature Troopers Dodge tokens to weather this dangerous assignment. Not Out of it Yet can be played by any version of both Han Solo & Luke Skywalker and grants each half of this heroic duo a Speed-1 Move and a number of free Aim and Dodge tokens when they Activate near one another.

Notably, as existing units, both Han & Luke have access to a suite of Command Cards shared from existing Star Wars: Legion releases and are not restricted to just these three; Commander Skywalker is as much the Son of Skywalker as his Hero of the Rebellion and Jedi Knight versions, and Han Solo, Reluctant Hero can play a powerful 0-pip Command Card too! The new, mounted versions of these characters both feature in the classic Echo Base Defenders Battle Force, which can easily accommodate them thanks to its uniquely flexible Commander and Operative requirements.

Whether evading wampas or outrunning Imperial walkers, Captain Solo & Commander Skywalker on Tauntauns have got each other’s backs and make an excellent addition to your Rebel Alliance army and your Echo Base Defenders Battle Force.
