From Panel to Play: Iron Monger & Rescue

02/05/2026

As heroes rise and attain new dazzling heights of brave and astounding powers, it often seems that villains counteract them with darker deeds and more insidious plots for gaining personal power. In CP154 we see the rise of two of Marvel’s most power-hungry villains, and the beginning of two new lights against the darkness. What’s unique about them is their use of technology. While Iron Monger manipulates the world around himself for his own purposes, Rescue uses technology to protect and resist the diabolic intentions of evil villains. In this transmission, we’ll be highlighting Rescue and Iron Monger.

Obadiah Stane grew up a ruthless manipulator who became the President and CEO of Stane International, establishing himself as a prominent weapons manufacturer, sometimes going into business with Howard Stark. When Howard Stark died, Obadiah used violence and business manipulation to ruin Tony Stark and take over Stark International. This allows him to gain Tony Stark’s notes on the Iron Man armor, and eventually his team of scientists created the Iron Monger suit.

As Iron Monger, Obadiah has another tool in his arsenal on his path to personal wealth and power. What used to take a team of mercenaries and other operatives can now be accomplished through sheer oppressive firepower and his own time. In Marvel: Crisis Protocol, Iron Monger serves as a sturdy weapons platform on a large base.

Iron Monger has a versatile main attack that can change between physical or energy, but most interesting might be Aggressive Acquisition. This attack has a chance to take an asset or civilian token from the defender at range 2, making it one of the rare abilities in the game to steal objectives.

He has a range 1 place with Jump Jets, allowing him to get closer to the fight or escape retaliation after stealing an objective. His Onboard Tactical Computer allows him to reroll up to two attack or defense dice, and makes him a perfect fighter under the Kang Dynasty leadership.

Iron Monger even has a powerful 10 dice attack he can use once per game. If that wasn’t enough, his Reinforced Armor Plating reduces incoming damage by 1, further ensuring that after an attack he has even less to worry about. Iron Monger is truly a monstrous package in an easy to fit package. At least points wise.

Pepper Potts has long been a supporting character to Tony Stark, and after years of challenges and leading companies she has become a full fledged industrial powerhouse on her own. As a sign of his trust and respect for her alongside the constant threats against the two of them, Tony decided to build her a suit of armor of her own.

As Rescue, Pepper has her own adventures and fights with and against many of Marvel’s most popular characters, mostly involving other technologically empowered characters. In Marvel: Crisis Protocol, Rescue brings a very interesting move set and seems to be mostly focused on supporting other characters.

Her Triage attack can only deal 1 damage but can heal a friendly character nearby. Sonic Barrage is a stunning weapon, ostensibly non lethal, but in game it is a beam 4 7 dice attack, so extremely damaging to low defense enemies.

Further reinforcing that the Rescue armor is for saving people, Rescue can shake for one power using Life Support Systems and use Medevac. Medevac is a long advance then a move and heal on an activated character, allowing her to not just move further, but help an ally out as well. She can even implement Sonic Force Fields to increase defense or dodge rolls on herself or allies within range 3.

Rescue may be mostly focused on saving lives, but she has access to not one but two dynamic team tactic cards that allow her to make multiple attacks per activation. Rescue is a versatile support piece that can fit into many lists to help support the survivability of your other characters, while also using her beam to help crowd control.

With four amazing new characters and 8 new team tactic cards, CP154 -Kang, Iron Monger, Rescue, and Iron Lad brings technological marvels to advance your games of Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Check out yesterday’s article covering Kang and Iron Lad here!
