“Surrender, or you will be destroyed.” -Unnamed Super Tactical Droid
Originally forged by Baktoid Combat Automata, Super Tactical Droids are designed to lead the mechanical armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. A key part of any Droid Army, these units are equipped with enhanced armor, superior strategic programming, and unique upgrades to dominate the battlefield.
Super Tactical Command Droids are broken into Auxiliary Command or Command and Control variants. Each Super Tactical Droid is a highly adaptable and customizable platform, with the capacity to be molded to fit any battlefield situation. The Super Tactical Command and Control Droid has the Commander Rank, with slots to equip numerous upgrades to bolster the performance of your CIS units. In contrast, the Auxiliary Command Droid deploys as an Operative and specializes as an independent support piece that provides bonuses to fellow droids and brings multiple armaments to directly contribute to the battle.
Each of these specialist droids comes pre-equipped with a melee and ranged weapon. Their defenses outstrip those of typical B1 battle droids, with a red defense die in place of white. Each droid also comes with a large number of upgrade slots, making these unique miniatures an excellent unit to customize both on and off the battlefield. Calculate your assured victory as we see how Super Tactical Command Droids command the fight in your games of Star WarsTM: Legion.
Both Super Tactical Command Droids variants must equip an exciting new type of upgrade: Doctrines. These represent specialized programming and advanced tactical imperatives, perfect for gaining an edge over other commanders and guiding your forces with brutal efficiency. Tailor-made for Droid leaders with offensive output in mind, Seek and Destroy adds a Training upgrade slot and gives the unit Demoralize 1, Marksman, and Target 1. Tyrannical Taskmaster, on the other hand, vastly increases the unit’s upgrade potential, adding an additional Hardpoint slot and automatically readying one of the unit’s exhausted Hardpoint upgrade cards. Read on to see exactly what you’ll be adding to your very own Super Tactical Command Droids!
Hardpoint upgrades are a key feature of Super Tactical Command Droids, providing the tactical depth and flexibility you would expect from an advanced droid commander. The first of these is Limiter Override, which can be used to boost a friendly AI unit with one of three powerful effects. Targeting Relay coordinates the offensive efforts of your forces, giving every enemy unit within range 4 and Line of Sight of the Super Tactical Command Droid an Observation token. When you need to aggressively gain ground to take a point of interest, Overclock can force a friendly unit to make a Speed-2 Move, at the nominal cost of 1 Immobilize token. Not every one of these new Hardpoint upgrades targets friendly units, however. Sliced Comms scrambles the airwaves of one unfortunate enemy unit within range 2, giving them 2 suppression tokens and shuffling a faceup Order token back into the Order Pool.
While many of the optional Hardpoint upgrades for the Super Tactical Command Droids are focused on controlling the battle around them, these units may also equip enhancements to boost their own utility. A Super Tactical Droid with the Optimized Task Flow upgrade is adept at complex battlefield manipulation, gaining Direct: AI Unit. A popular choice for frontline leaders, Enhanced Combat Subroutines adds Sharpshooter 1 when attacking, and Lethal 1 to the Super Tactical Droid’s Attack Pools. Finally, Strategic Programming adds Strategize 1 to the unit, enhancing the efficiency of your army as it conquers the battlefield.
The upgrades don’t stop there, as the Baktoid Combat Forges produce even more options to further customize your Super Tactical Command Droids. A deadly short-range option, the Heavy Arm Cannon devastates enemy forces with 2 red and 3 white attack dice, as well as the Suppressive keyword. For extra offensive damage in melee, an Electrostaff gives the Super Tactical Droid Charge and Immune: Melee Pierce. To round out a multitude of Software and Hardware options, the Mobility Upgrade gives the Super Tactical Command Droid Scale and Steady, and Expanded Databanks give the unit an extra Hardpoint slot.
A pair of powerful new Command Cards round out the Customizable Super Tactical Command Droid expansion. Tactical Download creates a support network for your AI units, placing 4 Aim and 4 Dodge tokens on this card. When a unit with the AI keyword attacks or defends this round, it may spend 1 token on this card as if that unit had the token. This takes up precious memory, however, and the spending unit will gain 1 Immobilize token. When your droids aren’t up for the task and you need to take matters into your own hands, Exterminate can deliver a punishing blow to your opponent. The Super Tactical Command Droid gains Demoralize 2, and when the Order Super Tactical Command Droid defeats an enemy unit, it can make a free Attack action, even if it has already made an Attack action during its Activation.
